Trustees
Andy Fox
Andy was appointed to the Trust in 2017, and in 2023 was appointed as the Chairman. Andy brings with him a wealth of expertise at a corporate level, having being on the board of directors of PPCS (now Silver Fern Farms), Meat and Wool New Zealand (now Beef and Lamb) and on the New Zealand Meat Board, and is currently the Chairman of WRONZ (Wool Research of New Zealand). Andy has also had a long involvement with Federated Farmers.
In 2003 Andy was awarded a Nuffield Scholarship which enabled him to study overseas on farming related topics.
Andy farms a 1600ha property in the Scargill Valley, with his wife Kath who works as a lawyer in Christchurch. He has three adult sons.
When not busy involved in the rural sector, Andy enjoys his collection of Classic cars, and on farm museum which houses four generations of collecting. He believes that New Zealand is the best Country in the World! Andy is also a registered marriage celebrant.
Derrick Millton
Derrick is the longest serving Trustee, having been appointed in 1977. During this time, he has been on the Trust with three generations of his family. Derricks sense of family connection is important to him, making sure that family history and the initial intentions of EB Millton are passed down through the generations.
Derrick has a wealth of knowledge, and expertise with a background in farming, quarrying and being members of various Boards and Councils.
Derrick held the position of Chairman of WRONZ (Wool Research Origination of New Zealand) for eight years. He was an elected member of the Kaikoura District Council for three terms, retiring in 2021.
Derrick lives in Clarence Bridge, Kaikoura and when not busy running a limestone quarrying business, he enjoys spending time with his wife Jane and occasionally throwing a surfcaster into the waves off the Kaikoura Coast.
Ben Millton
Ben was appointed as a Trustee in 2008, and has been involved on the farming, forestry and charitable sub-committees. He brings an extensive farming knowledge to the Trust, and with a young family is able to provide insight into ways in which the Trust can continue to provide for young people in Canterbury.
Ben encourages children to engage in sporting activities where possible, and has been actively involved in local orienting events with his children.
Ben and his wife Jane, and three children farm a 1150 ha sheep and beef property at Clarence Bridge, Kaikoura. In his spare time Ben enjoys hunting, diving and surfing, making the most of the Kaikoura coastline.
Guy Buchanan
Guy has been a trustee of the EB Millton Charitable Trust since 2010 and over this time he has been involved with the forestry and charitable sub-committees, and more recently led the finance sub-committee.
Guy has worked as a Financial Adviser since 2007 specialising in risk insurance and KiwiSaver advice. He has been a Director of Financial Advice businesses since 2015 and is currently the sole owner and adviser in Buchanan Financial Partners. Guy is a founding member of Financial Advice New Zealand and have been awarded the Trusted Adviser Mark.
Outside of work, Guy enjoys to travel and playing sport socially.
Guy and his wife Niamh, live in Christchurch and have two young children.
Lucy Millton
Lucy has been a Trustee since her appointment in 2011, and has been involved in the Charitable sub-committee. She finds it a huge privilege to be part of the EB Millton Charitable Trust, with the ability to make a difference in childrens lives, and to help advocate for those who would benefit from the Trusts support.
Lucy has a background in Resource Management planning, having worked for various Councils within New Zealand and overseas.
Lucy has recently moved back to Canterbury after living in Queenstown and Southland for the last nearly 20 years.
Georgie Harper
Georgie was appointed as a Trustee in 2022. As one of the younger Trustees Georgie brings a youthful perspective to the Trust and is interested in allowing people to reach their full potential.
As a mother of four children with an educational background in social work and the agricultural sector, Georgie has a broad range of skills to contribute to the Trust.
Currently running the farm in conjunction with her husband; Dan, Georgie and Dan are responsible for 29,000 stock units with a focus on creating specific niche products.
Georgie is passionate about creating a fairer society and giving equal rights regardless of background. Georgie is excited about learning the potential of Charitable trusts and the opportunities that can be provided.
